While most of us are naturally safe by our own protective barriers (the aura / makkif), it’s important to learn some psychic self defense and energy healing principles, because both are correlated
Since we will be developing on previous ideas, it would be a good time to review a few past articles to make sense of what is going on:
- Paranormal Activity – The Unifying Principle of Creation
- Jewish Reincarnation (Gilgul) – When you are not really you
- Webinar #8 – Paranormal Phenomena, Mechanisms of the Spiritual Worlds, Protection Against Evil
If you’ve been reading this website for a while, you should by now be aware that we live in a sea of spirituality and that the higher worlds can be accessible through Kabbalah meditation or other energy practices. They are real, and we are constantly exchanging signals with them because we are connected to them.
Most people are not overly concerned with how their mental health might be affected when they go to a cemetery or argue with their spouse because the influence of such events are generally mild and temporary. Similarly, they might not pay much attention to “why” someone they met is sending them “bad vibes” or a feeling of uneasiness.
As we saw in the first article of the list about the unifying principle of Creation, we are constantly exchanging energy signals with other people, places and objects, as well as the spiritual realms. Everything is united by the primordial light called Ohr Ein Sof (the “light of no end”) which, by the way, is completely above our grasp. From this supreme form of energy, all other forms of energy branch out, “condensing” (so to speak) and lowering their vibrational frequency until the physical world we see is formed.
So everything is connected one way or another by energy. There’s also ample scientific evidence to the fact that our feelings can affect others and that long distance healing is a real thing.
Energy exchange
If you meditate regularly, you become sensitive to energy. You begin to feel the flow of energy around you, from others, and can even sense your own heartbeat. It’s a neat skill everyone should have because the full extent of a person’s soul can never be experienced except through meditation.
Either way, you begin to become aware of your inner world, to see which of the voices in your head is the real you and which are just your fallen emotions talking. You begin to change because you see things more interconnected, and to acquire more equanimity and love for Hashem and his Creations.
Since everything, even the soul, is a form of energy, you can see how important it is to know when something is not right there. That is, often our energy field becomes disturbed by a foreign presence which needs to be expelled. In fact, many Traditional Chinese Medicine masters can see disease (with their mind’s eye) present on a person’s aura and treat it before it manifests in the physical body. This is one of the principles behind energy healing, which one can do to oneself or another.
When a foreign energy entity (i.e. a spirit) attaches itself to the soul or the aura, it begins to suck its energy. The consequences of this so-called attachment can show up as moderate mood swings to psychosis to full blown possession, which should not be surprising. Obviously not everything can be attributed to spiritual attachments, but everything in our physical world first happens in the spiritual realms, only to them be revealed here.
Rabbi Yehuda Fetaya gives many fascinating accounts of people who were beset by psychological problems in his book Minhat Yehuda. All of these issues were later traced back to the fact that the person had a negative attachment.
Either way, negative energy exchanges can happen in normal interactions between people or when visiting places where people die like cemeteries, hospitals, abandoned houses, where acts of violence were committed and the like. The negative spiritual impression remains there even after the fact.
It’s also entirely possible for someone to affect even through long distance if the “caster” has obsessive emotions toward the “target” such as unfulfilled love, lust, hatred, jealousy and so on. The obsession causes ripples in the quantum energy field that permeates reality (in the world of Assiyah), and can cause a lot problems to the target. Add a few focus-spoken words to that mix and we have what is commonly known as a “curse”.
In this video I briefly explain why many people fail at meditation, which is because they don’t believe in themselves and their experiences. When you meditate you are actually creating an energy construct that, with enough persistence and concentration, acquires real power. The more one meditates on a certain idea, the more real it becomes be it for good or bad.
Psychic self defense
With all that said, what can be done when it comes to repelling these threats? Why, that’s what’s called the principles of psychic self defense because ultimately it all boils down to how well one uses one’s mind and energy.
Besides doing energy healing exercises and taking proper care of the body mind and soul, the most important principle to understand is that when a person is under attack, this is a battle of wills. It’s easy to say that “I am now repelling everything”. What’s difficult to do is to actually mean it, especially if one has many sins in his account and doesn’t take care of himself.
Because ultimately no one can harm you psychically/energetically unless there’s some form of “permission” that you give to them. This “permission” can be a sin, a fallen emotion, bad habits (like sleep deprivation or bad diet), a simple command to one’s higher soul to trust the threat (like ouija board or seanses players), and other conditions that lowers one’s guard, disturb the mind and the emotions.
Remember it’s all about energy, and the higher souls (the Ruach and Neshama) respond to the signals the Nefesh (our base consciousness) gives to them. We see from the writings of the Mekubalim that a psychic attack may occur either by a spirit acting alone or a caster that is alive in the physical realm.
With that said, here are some signs that person may be potentially under psychic attack:
- Sudden Unexplained Fatigue: Feeling unusually tired or drained despite adequate rest and nutrition can indicate a psychic attack, as your energy is being siphoned off by an external source.
- Persistent Negative Thoughts: Intrusive, overwhelming negative thoughts that are out of character may suggest someone is projecting harmful energy towards you. See Minhat Yehuda where in many stories the target has persistent negative thoughts.
- Unexplained Physical Symptoms: Sudden headaches, body aches, or other discomforts without a clear medical cause can be a sign of energetic interference. Many Kabbalah books tell us of people on whom physical scars and scratches mysteriously appeared out of nowhere.
- Emotional Instability: Intense anxiety, fear, or depression that doesn’t match your current life circumstances might be due to external psychic influences.
- Disturbed Sleep Patterns: Insomnia, frequent nightmares, or waking up feeling unrested can indicate that your subconscious is being targeted by negative energies (But it could also be you are just overthinking).
- Unusual Accidents or Bad “Luck”: A series of misfortunes or accidents happening without logical explanation could be due to malevolent energies affecting your Mazal. Remember it is happening in the spiritual worlds first and foremost.
- Feeling of Being Watched or Followed: Constant sensations of being watched or not being alone, even when you are by yourself, can suggest a psychic presence. Back in the days, sorcerers would use spirits to conduct psychic attacks. It is not farfetched to see that this still happens nowadays.
- Difficulty Concentrating: Trouble focusing on tasks, making decisions, or retaining information may be due to psychic interference disrupting your mental clarity. (Or it could be you just need some sleep)
- Relationship Strains: Sudden conflicts or misunderstandings with family, friends, or colleagues might indicate negative energy is affecting your interactions.
- Unusual Behavior in Animals: Pets becoming overly aggressive or fearful without a clear cause can suggest they sense negative energies around you. As the Talmud teaches, animals are more sensitive to spiritual presences.
- Electrical Disturbances: Frequent malfunctions of electronic devices, such as flickering lights or electronics turning off unexpectedly, can be signs of psychic disruption. Remember: it’s all energy, but such a thing is often rare.
- Feeling Out of Control: A general sense of being overwhelmed or feeling like your life is spiraling out of control can indicate that external psychic forces are impacting your well-being.
Grounding as protection
Psychic self defense is also predicated on one’s capacity for grounding. Grounding involves creating a strong, energetic connection to the Earth’s field, which helps to stabilize your energy field and keep you centered. It is akin to an anchor that keeps a ship steady amidst turbulent waters. When you are grounded, you are more resilient against negative energies, psychic attacks, and emotional turmoil.
Some techniques for grounding include:
- Visualization: Imagine roots extending from your feet deep into the Earth. Visualize these roots anchoring you firmly to the ground, drawing up nourishing Earth energy into your body.
- Physical Contact with Nature: Walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil helps to physically connect you with the Earth. This direct contact can quickly ground your energy. Imagine all bad energy being flushed from your feet.
- Breathwork: Deep, rhythmic breathing can help to center your mind and body. Inhale deeply, imagining Earth energy flowing into you, and exhale any negative energy down into the ground.
- Meditation: Grounding meditations focus on the imagery of connecting with the Earth. Guided meditations can lead you through the process of grounding and stabilizing your energy.
Of course Torah study, Mitzvot and prayer offer great protection, but for more sensitive people, these measures listed above can be a great add-on.
Grounding can also be achieved with Epsom salt baths, incense/oil/herb therapies, massaging and strengthening your energy body. It is clear to me that the Jewish sages were masters of the energy arts and psychic self-defense, and used to smell incenses (called Mugmar) after a meal. Presumably this is a way of helping their digestion and energy stabilization.
Finally, the importance of Mikvah for men cannot be overstated. This is probably one of the most powerful measures in psychic self-defense because the negative attachments (energy or spirits) can be instantly removed. For more information, see this article.
Here are some benefits of grounding when it comes to energy healing:
- Stability: Grounding helps to maintain your emotional and energetic equilibrium, making you less susceptible to external negative influences.
- Protection: By anchoring your energy, grounding creates a protective barrier that can repel psychic attacks and unwanted spirits around. It’s not bullet proof, but it helps.
- Clarity: A grounded state of being enhances mental clarity, allowing you to discern between your own thoughts and emotions and those that may be projected onto you by others.
- Energy Regulation: Grounding helps to regulate and balance your energy levels, preventing energy drain and enhancing overall vitality.
Concluding remarks
The world is much deeper and broader than our physical senses perceive. This article is by no means an exhaustive guide on energy healing and psychic self defense but I hope it’s a good start for you. People of olden times were generally much more sensitive because their minds were not so fragmented by news feeds and constant sensory bombardment.
If you haven’t had any serious issues so far, now is not the time to be paranoid about it. Just be aware that these things exist and that the solutions are simple. Even if you do feel you might be under psychic attack, taking a few simple precautions can be a great help. The benefits extend even far beyond basic defense and help one live a better life overall as is the case with energy healing.
Sure, everything is ultimately in Hashem’s hands, but he also expects us to wisen up and do our part. One who simply believes he can “hire God” to be his personal bodyguard (or “spiritguard”) while doing whatever he wants will be in for a rude awakening. It’s not for nothing that even a great Tzadik like Rabbi Chaim Vital was warned by his master, the holy Arizal, not to pass over the graves of the wicked lest one of them attaches itself to him. Many such stories of Tzadikim making the utmost Hishtadlut (effort) to “spare God” from intervening directly abound both in the Zohar and the Talmud.
The matter is real but, by Hashem’s incredible compassion, the solution is within our hands through His Torah, Mitzvot, prayer, energy healing and psychic self defense.
And of course, taking care to live a healthy and happy life.
I wish you much success in your endeavors, stay safe, happy and protected.
